Sophos APX Access Points End of Life Cycle
Sophos now announces all lifecycle milestones for the entire APX series, including an extended support period until end of life on Dec. 31, 2027. This will maximize the period of use for all customers who have recently purchased. Use of the AP series after the EOL date is at your own risk.
In most cases, customers can use the full functionality of their APX product until the EOL date. However, if an APX is managed by a firewall with an EOL date before December 2027, your customer must migrate its access points to a supported platform to maintain full lifecycle functionality.
This applies specifically to the following products:
- XG/SG Series hardware appliances with Sophos Firewall OS (SFOS) become EOL on March 31, 2025.
- SG Series hardware appliances with Sophos UTM OS become EOL on June 30, 2026.
So, if you want to use your APX Series until the last day, you will have to migrate to Sophos Central sooner or later. Management of APX access points will remain free on Sophos Central.
AP6 Series replaces APX Access Points
ACTION: Migrate to the WiFi6 AP6 models and manage them from Central Wireless (subscription to support and services required). AP6 access points are more expensive than the APX series and require a subscription if you want to manage them from Sophos Central. The service and support subscription is usually 10% of the AP6 MRSP value.
The latest supported software versions for these models will be announced closer to the EOL date and published on the Retirement Calendar.
