28 Jan Kappa Data sponsors promising athlete Jente Hauttekeete
Does the new Hans van Alphen happen to live in De Pinte? Jente Hauttekeete is on his way to making a name as an athletics star. In 2020, as a First Year Junior, Jente improved the Belgian decathlon record set by Thomas Van der Plaetsen. A fantastic achievement, but unfortunately it doesn’t count as an official Belgian record due to the wind. But the tone is set, even in a corona year…
Naturally, this isn’t his only achievement. Jente seemed to collect medals as a boy. He was regularly declared Belgian champion in the decathlon, the heptathlon indoor, and the 60-metre hurdles in youth categories. He was also awarded silver for the decathlon at the European Youth Olympics in Baku.
The apple doesn’t fall far from the tree because both his mum Melanie Moreels and his dad Hendrik Hauttekeete were Belgian athletics stars in their youths and beyond. Now they pass part of their experience as a trainer on to their offspring.
With its home base in De Pinte for 20 years, Kappa Data is incredibly proud to be able to sponsor Jente.
Patrick Casteels, Managing Partner Kappa Data: ‘Melanie, Jente’s mum, has been a faithful and loyal employee in Kappa Data’s purchasing department for many years. We were surprised to hear that such a promising athlete receives very few financial resources to develop his talent. We are delighted that we can chip in with this sponsorship. Our ultimate dream is to see Jente shine at the Olympics. We wish him every success.’
