09 Jan Juniper Networks provides end-user experience with AI Cloud solution
For a healthcare organization, wireless networks are crucial. The problem today is that many solutions are based on outdated architectures, when smartphones, Bluetooth Low Energy and Microservices did not exist. “Their focus is on connectivity,” according to Steven Blees, Enterprise Sales Director Benelux at Juniper Networks. “In contrast, we start from a fundamentally different principle, which is the end-user experience, and bet on a cloud solution built on AI.”
AI and Microservice Cloud-based networking solution
Our vendor Juniper networks has traditionally been strong in security and networking products. With the acquisition of Mist Systems came a powerful solution. In fact, Mist Systems built the first AI and Microservice Cloud-based networking solution, with a virtual IT assistant called Marvis. “Our philosophy is that it’s no longer good enough to know that someone can’t connect or doesn’t have a good connection, you want to know how the user experience is. Indeed, you want to anticipate that.” Juniper monitors all data coming from connected users and devices, continuously analyzes that information and analyzes problems. “If there is an incident, we know immediately what the cause is. IT doesn’t have to spend hours troubleshooting, freeing up time, which is important in a hospital that operates 24/7. In fact, you solve problems proactively, before anyone creates a ticket.”
Rapid rollout, fewer tickets and greater satisfaction
So how does this come in practice? Steven Blees cites several examples. “ServiceNow, for example, receives 90% fewer tickets since switching to Juniper. Another customer reports 85% faster problem resolution. Two other names are the Jan Yperman Hospital and the Elisabeth Hospital. They both indicate the importance of proactive insight. It is increasingly difficult for IT to manage the growing number of connected applications and medical devices. But by getting proactive advice on how to improve their network, they’re using time much more efficiently. Time that can go toward high-value tasks instead of troubleshooting. Since the architecture is built using microservices, you no longer have to worry about resources. This architecture is extended to the access points so updates and patches can be rolled out very quickly.”

Exact location determination
Because Mist includes a full AI engine, it is possible to provide precise location determination using smart algorithms. “Jan Yperman Hospital uses our real-time location service system to track wheelchairs, computers and other important and valuable assets. Our understanding of these types of flows allows us to operate more efficiently. In the future, the system will also offer the ability to properly guide individuals with wandering behavior, or provide wayfinding so that patients can find their way to their appointments faster.” These are just a few examples of what is possible with AI and location tracking.
